*LATEST* Grand Theft Auto 6 Predicted Release Date & News
Enfo TimesJuly 28, 20220
Grand Theft Auto 6 is probably one of the most anticipated games around – but it doesn’t even exist yet! That hasn’t stopped fans from wondering when the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date is though.
What we do know is that Rockstar wants to “exceed players’ expectations”, as reported in Gamesradar.
The Rockstar blog post read: “Over the past few years, we have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.”
“Understanding more than ever the need to exceed players’ expectations and for this next entry to be the best it can possibly be,” the post continues.”
It comes as the studio confirmed it was winding down support for Red Dead 2, so it could focus on GTA 6 and whatever multiplayer component that game will have.
But what exactly do we know about Grand Theft Auto 6? Do we even have a Grand Theft Auto 6 release date?
Well, no, but we do have several details that will excite long-time fans of the series, and get your appetite whet for the next game in one of the most beloved series of all time.
Grand Theft Auto 6 Predicted Release Date
As far as a release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 goes, we have absolutely no idea when the game itself will release. However, there are some interesting points to discuss.
In their recent financial report, Take-Two Interactive, the owners of Rockstar Games said that they’re planning to release twenty-four ‘immersive core’ games in the Financial Year 2023-2025.
Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re planning a Grand Theft Auto release among them, as Take-Two Interactive also owns 2K and Private Division, who make games that would fall into this category. 2K for example make the annual sports titles such as the WWE series of games and the NBA series of games, which are huge money makers for the company.
Still, it’s enough to make fans hope that we might see news on the series sooner rather than later.
Grand Theft Auto 6 News
Earlier in the year, Rockstar Games themselves released a statement that reads as follows:
“With the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered- and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.”
This confirms something that many already knew and suspected: Grand Theft Auto 6, in whatever form this comes.
With the sheer popularity of Grand Theft Auto Online, it’s worth noting that Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive may favor a pivot to a less story-focused game than previous iterations of the series, a way to keep Grand Theft Auto Online going as long as possible.
Of course, this is all pure guesswork at this stage, we really don’t know anything about the game.
Grand Theft Auto 6 Rumours
As far as rumours go, they’re fast and frequent with the series as always. Although there is ONE worthwhile and noteworthy one from a notable insider, Tom Henderson.
Henderson stated on Twitter that:
“For the first time ever in a GTA title, GTA 6 will have a playable female and male protagonist’
Grand Theft Auto V introduced three playable characters (Michael, Franklin, and Trevor) so this is extremely within the realm of possibility. It’ll be interesting to see how much Rockstar announces about the game within the next couple of years, and indeed if they say anything at all.
UPDATE: We have information on potential playable characters for the game! As stated by Jason Schreier over at Bloomberg:
“Rockstar removed transphobic jokes from the most recent re-release of GTAV and quietly canceled an online mode called Cops ‘n’ Crooks after the George Floyd protests. Grand Theft Auto VI will have a female Latina protagonist — the first playable woman in modern Rockstar history“
The article itself goes into further detail about the game, stating that it will have two playable characters influenced by Bonnie and Clyde, has a working title of Project Americas, and will be set in a fictional version of Miami. The game will evolve over time, adding new cities and having more interior locations than any previous GTA games.
